Arlene and Teaco

(May 8, 1946 – June 2, 2022)

Arlene was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Her mother was Harriet Blossom Kahaner, her father Max Kahaner. She went to Brooklyn College. She married Robert Katz in 1966 and they moved to Seattle, where they had two children, Rona and Bonnie. The house was always alive with dogs and cats, music, and art. She was a homemaker and had jobs here and there.

In 1985 she moved to Orinda, California with her second husband Lou Manrique and daughter Bonnie. Rona moved off to college. Arlene raised more dogs and some ducks.

Arlene and Lou moved to Lopez Island in the 90s and bought a cute little A-frame to fill with art and more pets. Around that time, she met her third husband, Allan Barber (now deceased).

Arlene moved to Bellingham about 15 years ago, and enjoyed living there very much. In Bellingham, as in everywhere she lived, she made many dear friends while collecting beautiful art.

Arlene is survived by her brother, Larry Kahaner, two daughters, Rona (Evan) Sass and Bonnie (Duncan) Katz Sailors, her two grandchildren, Roswell and Keegan Sass, and her dog, Teaco.

Her friends and family will miss her very much. May her memory be a blessing.
